Swimming Pools in Jerusalem

Swimming Pools in Jerusalem

Although the temperature is generally somewhat cooler in Jerusalem, summers can still get pretty hot, and so you are sure to be tempted to go for a dip.

Here’s the CapitIL Real Estate guide to pools in or near Jerusalem.

Jerusalem Pool Community Center

Situated on Harakevet 20, the Jerusalem Pool Community Center - or "Brechat Yerushalayim" - is the new jewel in the crown of swimming pools in the German Colony area.

You can find your way to the Jerusalem Pool Community Center either via Harakevet, or via Emek Refaim, with the pool and gym behind Pizza Sababa.

The JPCC opened in 2024 and is an impressive swimming pool and gym, also boasting a French bakery in the coming months too.

An impressive indoor swimmng pool is accompanied by outside space to enjoy in the summer. The gym features all the machines you could possibly want to keep in shape.

If you live in the area of Emek Refaim, a membership at the Jerusalem Pool Community Center is a must and also affordable considering the ameneties on offer here.

Ramat Rachel

A kibbutz located to the south of Jerusalem, and easily accessible by bus or car, Ramat Rachel has a number of facilities such as a Wedding Hall, hotel and a gym/pool.

Ramat Rachel has two very large swimming pools. One is indoors and is predominantly used for swimming classes, mainly for young children.

There is also a larger pool, which is heated and covered during the winter, surrounded by large grassy open space, which is great for relaxing on after a swim.

During the summer, the outdoor swimming pool at Ramat Rachel can get very busy. There are also food options for visitors both inside the complex and outside on the grassy area.

The kibbutz also has a jacuzzi and sauna as well as various sports facilities such as tennis and basketball courts.

YMCA

A dominant and recognisable part of Jerusalem’s skyline, the YMCA is one of the older buildings in downtown Jerusalem (outside of the Old City of course).

One of their many services to the community is their gym, which also includes access to a swimming pool.

The YMCA swimming pool is Half Olympic size and indoor. There is also a Jacuzzi and two dry saunas, one for men and one for women.

For more on the YMCA swimming pool, see here.

Community Pools

The municipality has announced plans to renovate or build 7 new swimming pools for the residents of Jerusalem.

Teddy Stadium, Malcha

There is a Water Center at the famous Teddy Stadium, opposite the Malcha mall.

(Teddy Stadium is named after legendary former Mayor Teddy Kollek.)

Teddy Stadium plays host to both major football (soccer) teams in the city, Betar Jerusalem and Hapoel Jerusalem.

As well as the soccer, and basketball across the road at the Arena, there is also a Water Center at Teddy Stadium.

There are three small water pools - predominantly for children to learn how to swim.

Many citizens of Jerusalem take their toddlers to this swimming pool to guide their children on the basics of swimming.

Hebrew University, Givat Ram

The Givat Ram campus of Hebrew University provides plenty of options for exercise lovers with a huge amount of options.

It's quality was reaffirmed in the summer of 2022 when the Givat Ram Stadium hosted the Under-18 Athletics European Championships.

The Givat Ram campus contains the biggest indoor heated swimming pool (33 metres long) in the whole of Jerusalem.

Whilst predominantly aimed at students and staff of the Hebrew University, it can also be accessed by the general public too.

Hotel swimming pools

Though many a Jerusalem resident may tell you that if you walk in with confidence, you’ll most likely be able to get in for free, strictly these pools are pay for access type affairs.

The costs tend to be pretty high since the hotels don’t want their pools overcrowded for their guests, but many do have an option to pay for on the spot access.

The following are just a selection of the hotels that have pool facilities

David Citadel swimming pool

The Citadel sits just outside the Old City of Jerusalem and has an awesome pool with a view of the Old City.

Its free to use for guests and members of the gym there, but can be accessed on a pay as you go basis too.

They also have a small channel from the changing rooms so on a cold day, you can enter and leave the heated pool from indoors!

Details on the David Citadel swimming pool can be accessed here.

Dan Panorama swimming pool

The Dan Panorama is located on Keren Hayesod Street, close to Gan HaPaamon and Yemin Moshe.

The hotel has a beautiful roof-top pool, but this is only open from May-October.

More information on the Dan Panorama swimming pool is here.

Inbal swimming pool

The Inbal hotel by the Gan HaPaamon park has a ‘semi-olympic’ sized pool which is covered and heated in the winter months and so is available year round.

The Inbal hotel has recently undergone renovations and their swimming pool is amongst the nicest in the whole city.

In addition to the swimming pool, the Inbal hotel also has a fitness centre, with a wide range of equipment.

Isrotel Orient

This imposing building has been constructed over the road from the First Station complex.

Combining both a hotel and residential apartments, this development features two pools, one of which is on the roof, and a spa.

It is easily accessed via car or public transport.

For more details on the Isrotel Orient hotel swimming pool and a view of the super impressive roof, see here

King David

The King David hotel is the hotel in Jerusalem and is where Presidents and Heads of State come to stay when they visit Israel.

(To prove this once again, it was where US President Joe Biden stayed during his July 2022 visit to Israel.)

The hotel itself has many facilities on offer, including tennis courts, a gym and a sauna, but what interests us for the purpose of this list are their pools.

These include the main pool, plus a kids pool and a "relaxing" pool.

Further information on the King David hotel swimming pool can be seen here.

Often used as a wedding venue, Shoresh (click here for more information in Hebrew.) has a large main pool plus a kids pool.
